Improvement And Practice Of Testing Equipment Development Project

Under the background of fiercely competition in Communication Equipment market, B Company actively develops its own strength, independently designs products and meanwhile expects that the ability of its manufacturing and testing could meet the need of its products. As the self-developed ATE (Automatic Test Equipment) have issues on its working reliability, production efficiency and product quality have been seriously affected. In order to avoid affecting company’s general strategy and schedule, the management mode of ATE-developing department must be improved, and the status of working lack of effective management and organization must be changed. By successfully applied on ONT-ATE (Optical Network Termination) project, it is proved to be feasible and effective to use the theories and methods of Project Management to strengthen the process of ATE development.The problems of management were discovered by analyzing the process of developing ATE in Test Engineering Department. Making some optimizing plans for developing workflow and some improvement plans for developing management, and fully applied in ONT-ATE project. The actions include applying time management theory to analyze activities’orders and time consumptions so that project manager could make detailed plans for project in develop-phase, applying quality management theory to strengthen quality assurance and control so that the quality of ATE would be under control, applying risk management theory to control the potential risks and make related solutions so that the influence of risk would be reduced or avoided. Finally, ONT-ATE successfully reaches its goal by running all the PM controls.
