Since the21st century, with the continuous improvement of Chinas overallnational strength and the level of scientific technology, peoples spiritual life form hasbeen continuously enriched. In the past, photography was a relatively extravagantand professional fields. Today, it covered with lightning speed to the people. Withthis stock photography craze, a variety of photography magazines spring up as well.Some photography magazines people read are about camera equipment, some areabout photography theory research, others may be about showing photos or allabove are included in. However, faced with such a busy magazine market, manyChinese photography magazines still encountered be closed out or a lot ofdevelopment difficulties.Compared with China, America has the worlds most developed magazineindustry and the most liberal photographic art. American photography magazineshave a strong advantage in terms of their content layout, topics, photos, printingpapers, or from their staff: editors, photographers, critics and so on. Regarding thedifferences and disparities of photography magazines between China and America,we can say that it is time to study these photography magazines from two differentcountries (China and America).Thus, the author further access to some information and found that the currentdomestic scholars specifically for a more systematic comparative studies of Chineseand American photography magazines are only a few. In addition, the rise of newmedia has a great impact on printed media, so survival space and developmentpotential of magazines will be discussed in depth in this thesis.On the other hand, today’s photography has become more and more popular,which also brings new opportunities and thinking space to photography magazines.What kind of magazines do people like? How to adjust their own content and layout,find their own style and character? Are Chinese photography magazines really worthto read? How many differences between Chinese and American Photographymagazines? How to develop in the future? They are all worth being investigated further.In summary, this thesis will be begun by the different cultural backgroundbetween Chinese magazines and American ones and the current status ofphotography. Then it will find respective characteristics and the difference of Chinesemagazines and American ones by comparing their own layout, design, content,features, operation way of staffing, etc. Meanwhile, we hope that we can find thedifference of political, economic, cultural and other aspects between China andAmerica through comparing their photography magazines. Ultimately, this thesis willgive some suggestions and comments to Chinese photography magazines about theirfuture developments.The author finds that Chinese photography magazines has faced a lot ofproblems and challenges today through collecting much information and hercorresponding number of internship experience, especially after comparing with theAmerican photography magazines, Chinese photography magazine should derivereference and inspiration, such as personnel, distribution, cooperation andself-confidence, which should be changed or improved. And at the end of this article,the author boldly proposed a new concept——photographic magazine person,which can be regarded as the highlight of this article.
