Constructing The Image World With Qilu Style

Targeting the press photography pages (2009) of Dazhong Daily as the samples in case study, this thesis elaborates on the author's research on press photography mainly facilitated by means of content analysis. Under the trend of eyeball economy and newspaper visualization, the studies on press photography, such as its visual impact, public popularity, social value and further development exert a huge influence on future practice and bear undermined value on academic research.The first press photography pages in Chinese newspaper took shape in the early 1990s with a noticeable imprint of foreign influence. Led by documentary photography, the horizon of photojournalism has been continuously enlarge, which gave birth to a large number of representative photo-reportages. From 2000, keeping pace with the reform of the press, press photography pages undergone a period of adjustment. Some of them like the one in Dazhong Daily remain in function and show new vigor.Targeting the press photography pages (2009) of Dazhong Daily as main research subject and giving an insight into its own development as well as the comparison and relationship with some other newpapers, this thesis analyzes and summarizes some common rules in title selecting, characterization, photos editing etc. The characteristic of Dazhong Daily are also elaborated.As the provincial press, Dazhong Daily applies itself to constructing image world with Qilu Style, the features of which are gradually taking shape and expose. For example, localization in title selecting, grassroots tendency and typification in characterization, and the traditional editing form with innovation.With the systemic reform of Dazhong Daily, further development has been achieved. However, compared with some famous newspapers both at home and abroad, the press photography pages of Dazhong Daily still has a long way to go for stability and further development through deeper innovation. Based on the comparison and analysis, some suggestions on further development of press photography pages are proposed in conclusion part of the thesis.
