With the rapid development and progress of society, people’s living standard is improved continuously, the demand for household environment is also increasing, especially the demands for safety and convenience are more and more high. Therefore, smart home which can meet these needs walks into people’s life gradually.Through researching the current development situation and the development trend of smart home in domestic and international, and combining the existing defects of current smart home, this paper puts forward a design scheme of a smart home monitoring system based on ARM.The system is based on OK2440development board and Linux operating systems, realises the network monitoring page through web programming(CGI), the user can control lamps, observation the temperature indoor remotely through the wed browser, and monitor the conditions indoor at any time by the video. Combining the GPRS module、the temperature sensor and the infrared sensors of the human body to realize security alarm function. When the indoor temperature is too high or someone into the house, triggers buzzer and the GPRS module will send prompt message to the use’s phone, to alert user to focus on indoor conditions.This paper completed hardware design and soft design of smart home monitoring system and tested it. The experimental result shows that the system can realize the basic functions of the proposed design scheme. The system has characteristics of small size, strong practicability, extensible. So it has good development prospects.
