Smart home is the development trend of the future home. Smart Home originated in the Europe and the United States and Japan in the 1980s and was introduced into our country at the end of 1990s. However, smart home is at the early stage of development in our country, lack of uniform standards and the authority product. In view of this condition, the paper designs the smart home remote monitoring system based on ARM, Web server and the GPRS technologies.The monitoring system of smart home is made up of three parts: remote terminal with browser, embedded web server and the embedded terminals with GPRS communication module. The embedded Web server is responsible for interaction between user and the whole system. The core board is taking the ARM-S3C2410 as the core, including SDRAM, FLASH, Ethernet. The expander board includes GPRS, temperature sensor, warning circuit, etc. The paper takes the embedded Linux as the EOS, constructing the embedded Web server. The GUI and interactive program are written by the CGI technology. The SD driver is implemented to record the alarming message. When everything is ready, the user can monitor the home status through the network explorer, including video information.The system hardware and software have been designed, and have been debugged,in order to verify the effectiveness and practicality of the system. Results show that the design is feasible, and the whole system has good versatility and scalabilit, embodying the advantages of embedded system in cost, power consumption, performance and scalability. Have broad application prospects.
