Duo Neng Bi Shi is an encyclopedias for daily use in Ming Dynasty,entitled Liu Ji. The book contains a total of seven hundred of lexical entries, recorded50,000words. It covers a wide range content, included civil characteristics. It not onlyprovide us the value corpus for the folk culture, but also understand development ofthe folk, which can act on aspects of todays diet, health and other research. The bookalso has a close relationship with Ju Jia Bi Yong Shi Lei Quan Ji, which documented alot about the diet things of Muslim Chinese and dyeing.This paper studies the book as deep as possible. It can divide into sixchapters.The first chapter is exordium, introducing the encyclopedias for daily usein Ming Dynasty. The second chapter introduces the auther, including Liu Ji’s life andanalyses whether he is the auther of Duo Neng Bi Shi or not. The third chapterintroduces this book, including its background, version and contents. The fourthchapter mainly discusses the book’s folk vocabulary firstly, that makes us know thesocial folk style. The fifth chapter is about the book’s cultural values, such as folkcustom and so on. The sixth chapter probes the book’s shortcomings, like thewritting forms of words, the sequence of words, the examples of words and theinterpretation of words.
