New media,one of the most popular topic in academic research, has beendefined thoroughly by global scholars. although the research has made a lot ofaccomplishment, it only makes the truth of new media more and more obscure. Andmakes the principle behind it more complicated. The purpose of the research is baseon the angle of culture and communication theory, with the2012apocalypse asstudy case, we tried to redefine the concept of new media and the situation behind it.the value of the research is to continue the research of what is new media and try tofind out what new media bring us and how it makes our world a brand new era.As for the2012case, we always took it as a coincidence of new media topic,butwhen we look at the long term of such prediction, we can see that the speed andwidth of the topic spread on the new media was unprecedented. with everyonebecome the gatekeeper, combined the content and the platform of the topic, tomake our conclusion is the value of our research.By paper survey and literature and MRG method,we dig into the topic from thesimple surface,and make a conclusion that is different from traditional researchbased on new media technique.The essay was divided into3parts. Part one introduction, unveiled the currentresearch trend on new media and doomday as content. Part two argument, with themethods of content analysis and paper survey, we describe what situation the topicwas on new media and the secret on new media that we may have forgotten. Partthree, conclusion, find out the truth and change behind surface.The conclusion of the research includes:1) what is new media, it is a media formthat fits the modern word with greater strength and speed.2)the new lookout thatmonitoring our human internal desire.3) the convergence of new media andtraditional media makes our world no longer the same as it was.4)the situation andcondition of new media is the metaphor of our inside. It makes the gap between usbecame outward and so real.
