This paper is aimed to research on the characteristics and causes of reports on Chinese Women Volleyball team, by using the theory of Sociology of News Production, combing the characteristics of the social environment and media organization. This paper is divided into two parts; the first part will describe the reports on Chinese Women Volleyball Team from 1981 to 2002, from the aspect of Political Economy of Communication; the second part will research on the reports on Chinese Women Volleyball Team by Titan Weekly from 2003 to 2008. As the most popular sports newspaper, Titan Weekly's report on Chinese Women Volleyball team (from 2003 to 2008) is the emphasized research object in this paper.By analyzing these two parts, I find out that the production of Chinese Women Volleyball Team reports reflect the characteristics of sports report: the function of sports reports changed from politics-oriented to readers and market-oriented. The change comes from the social change, the development of sports, the development of media organization, professional ideal of sports reporter, indicating the complexity in news production in China.
