The traditional Online Transaction Procession System (OLTP) is operation-oriented, it only can provide simple deleting, inserting and query operations. The type of information needed for strategic decision making is different from that available from operational systems. We need a new type of system environment for the purpose of providing strategic information for analysis, discerning trends, and monitoring performance. So the thinking on Data Warehouse begin to come out, the technology and products related begin develop rapidly. Warehouse technology provides a good technological solution for the business demands. The whole DW technology mainly include such aspects:preprocessing technology, online analysis processing technology and data mining technology. DW technology not only be used to search all the history data, but also can be used to find out the potential relationship among data and forecast intending trend.China Ping an Insurance Company is one of the biggest insurance companies. By the setting up of 35 branches, the data increases very fast. All kinds of query operation make the database management system under a very strong pressure condition. So, we need find a way to reduce the pressure to the traditional OLTP system, and to provide more efficient and scientific decision support. Data Warehouse is the answer.The paper, on the basis of Data Warehouse and OLAP technology's studying, mainly introduces how to build a cube to provide strategic information for multidimensional analysis on insurance business by modeling, designing and developing.
