As a national essence of China,classical language is regarded as a key to open the treasure house of our ancient civilization,and an important carrier of national spirit.It plays a key role in cultivating people's sensitivity to beauty and connoisseurship ability. Study of writings in classic style has played an under-estimated role in promoting people to absorb and carry on the fine cultural traditions handed from history,and helping cultivate people's taste and inspire national spirit.In the new version of senior textbook for Chinese teaching,writings in classical Chinese take a certain amount of the whole and have become an essential part of the teaching course in middle school.The Chinese New Course Standard issued by Chinese Ministry of Education has brought great impact on the Chinese teaching in middle school and provides a direction for reforming the teaching method of classical language.The impact shows in the changes not only in the structure of textbook,but also in teaching concept.However,it is a fact that it's both hard for teacher to impart and student to acquire writings in classical language.Most of the time students tend to isolate their study and pay excessive attention to what will appear in their exam paper in the course of classical-language learning.They are likely to ignore the wisdoms and profound ideas contained in classical wittings which are rarely or even never referred in class.In this case,it will seriously influence students' assimilation to traditional culture and all-round development of mental health.Since students do not absorb the essence of traditional culture well,certain sound cultural tradition will be lost and a kind of good quality will be missed.Under Chinese New Course Standard,the author has been thinking how to embody the new teaching concept,how to stimulate students' learning interest and how to promote students to study and taste Chinese great ancient works in the course of classical-language teaching.This paper is designed to give an active discussion combining with the writer's long-term practice of classical-language teaching in high school.This paper will begin with a statement of current situation of classical-language teaching and requirements of Chinese New Course Standard.And then it will focus on the following three aspects:classical and modern Chinese teaching should be integrated; language teaching should be inosculated with modern life;teaching content should be consistent with students' interest.Hope to find a way of balancing between knowledge assimilation,cultural-tradition inheriting,and interest arousing and full ability developing.
