In the course of the traditional geographical teaching, because of the definition of geography, the stable chapters of contents and the emphasis put on the evaluation of knowledge, there is a teacher-centered phenomenon in which students learn passively .This kind of way ignores the main position of students in teaching and neglects the nurturing of the students' ability, thus makes the geographical teaching fixed, dull and inactive. Accompanied by the reform of fundamental education is the reform of geographical teaching in high school.Inquiry teaching is a kind of scientific teaching method welcomed and highly praised in different countries. It has the advantage of training the talents, overcoming the shortcomings of traditional teaching and is suitable for the requests of the reform in fundamental education. How to combine this method and the traditional teaching method in the application in high school geographical teaching is a question worthy of being researched.This thesis aims at putting forward some elementary proposals on geographical inquiry teaching and takes a deep analysis of the application of this method in high school historical teaching, thus carrying out the inquiry teaching in high schools. The theme may be displayed in the following four aspects:I. Inquiry teaching and its theories: The definition of inquiry teaching, basic features, development and the basic theories. On the basis of the above, the teaching applied in high school historical teaching will be further explored.II. The feasibility study of the implementation of geographical inquiry teaching in high school: In this part, the presenter explains the feasibility and necessity of inquiry teaching according to the features of geography knowledge and the aims of geographical learning, the psychology of senior students and the on-going reform in education system.III. The principle and the applying method of geographical inquiry teaching in high school: In this part, the presenter explored the basic strategy of the application according to the principles which students abide by during their study.IV The teaching design and practice of geographical inquiry teaching in high school: In this part, the presenter will introduce the teaching process of geographical inquiry teaching inside and out of class according to the application strategy and the cases of teaching design.The presenter will also put forward some examples and inspiration for the future application on the basis of analytic and retrospective results.
