Content Object and Activity/Process object are the two mainly focused fields in current e-learning. Learning design based up Activity/process object has become the hotspot and future direction of e-learning platform. This paper firstly reviews the development process of learning management system, analyzes the shortcoming and disadvantage of the learning management systems which based up content object: there is little understanding of how to create sequences of learning activities which involve groups of learners interacting within a structured set of collaborative environments, or how teachers can make these sequences easily re-usable. Based on this analyze, this paper introduces the Learning Design theory and Activity theory which puts more attention to the activity and process of learning. Then, it expounds the core principles of Learning Design, analyzes the influence of these theories to learning management system.This paper then analyzes the Learning Activity Management System (LAMS), LAMS regards learning activity as the basic learning unit, Learner completes curriculum objective by participating in a series of learning activities. The interactive tools provided by LAMS could support groups of learners interacting within a structured set of collaborative environments. This paper elaborates the Characteristics, prospects, structure and functions, installment and dispositions of LAMS. By the above explanations, drawing out the key points which this article expounds: the characteristics of LAMS learning activity sequences, the establishment of a LAMS learning activity sequence and, how to design individualized learning activity sequences. It contents the principle of design and application of LAMS sequences, the learning support characteristics and the flow control strategy of LAMS sequences.Based on the research on LAMS sequences, this paper demonstrates how to design and manage LAMS sequence in the form of cases. The selected case is one of the activity sequences which designed for photographic curriculum in our college. Each step of the case from design to implementation, this paper advances a detailed specification, from which we have make practice explores in using LAMS in education.At last, this paper summarizes the learning activity management system's advantages and shortcomings in teaching application and forecast the transformation it will bring to the education.
