Classical Chinese language, recording the great history and the fine traditions of China, lies the root of our national culture. Like a grand ancient book, the large amount of writings written in classical Chinese contain the profound spirit and the wisdom of our nation. Studying the writings in classical Chinese helps students of nowadays to get the national sprit, to continue the national wisdom and to inherit and develop our culture. Thus, it matters much to both students themselves and our country.The process of studying classical Chinese follows the rule of gradual improvements as the study of other subjects. However,"faults" and "dislocations" are ubiquitous in the connection between junior high schools and senior high schools. In our teaching practice, we found that Senior1students are somewhat incapable of adapting to the study of classical Chinese. Due to their not knowing the curriculum requirements and the learning methods very well, some students who perform well in the study of classical Chinese in junior high school tend to get falling grades and lose interests in classical Chinese in Senior1, which has a bad impact on their whole process of studying classical Chinese during Senior School time. It’s the very first and important problem for senior high school teachers to help Senor1students to make a smooth transition from the study of Junior School and to avoid the unsuccessful connections between the two periods. Based on the current situation of the connections between the two periods as well as our teaching practice, by consulting Chinese Language Teaching Standards in the Whole-day Compulsory Education (the draft) and the Chinese Teaching Standards of Ordinary High School (the draft), this paper attempts to explore the reasons for the " faults " in the connections, and to light and propose the strategies that enable Senior1students to adjust to the new study rules. In this way, we hope to benefit the Senior1students and to give the teachers right advice on classical Chinese teaching, so that the successful connections between the two periods can be realized.The work of investigating proper ways in the connections between junior high schools and senior high schools in the study of classical Chinese is not an easy work, and I, as a new researcher, have limitations in my capability which is reflected in this essay, so the conclusions and strategies might be not as perfect as possible and are supposed to be further examined. I, sincerely hope this essay could make a little contribution to the connections of teaching between junior high schools and senior high schools.
