Exploratory question in ideological and politics course is a new type of the written exam, which requires students to make studies about theoretical or practical problems with integrated knowledge and methods. It is set under the background of the popular of inquiry-based learning. Due to the characteristics of abundant forms of questions, open set to the answers and deep test to comprehensive ability, exploratory question has become a more and more important part in ideological and politics course examination. However, about how to fully and correctly understand political exploratory questions and use the resources to promote the reform of teaching way, we still have a lot to discuss and research. This paper starts research from three aspects of defining the concept and connotation of exploratory question, analyzing its function and characteristics and revealing the existing deficiencies in current politics teaching process. Finally, the paper attempts to put forward some suggestions of teaching strategies tentatively on these three aspects of teaching preparation, teaching implementation and teaching evaluation. To break through the limit that previous researches just stay in the test itself, this paper does an applied research expanding from exploratory questions to the practice of teaching strategies. This paper creatively puts forward the opinion that teachers should promote the development of inquiry-based teaching method, which is aimed at promoting students’all-round development based on the analysis of a large number of examples and interviews with teachers and students in teaching front line. The use of exploratory question in ideological and politics course embodies the talent cultivation idea in new curriculum. At the same time, exploring effective ways of teaching to deal with the new topic also helps to lead a new round of reform of politics course and to promote the development of education. To deepen the research of this topic will help to guide teaching practice by using the fruit of the research and explore the new direction of the development of politics course.
