Faction Of Poetry Study

This article is aimed to reseach the poems and Cis of Ye Mengde, one of the important writers in Southrn Song Dynasty. Based on the classified studies of the kinds of the themes, the author analyzes his writing views, and discusses the presentations and reasons for the diversification and complexity of Ye's style of creation, and analyzes his function in the transition from "creating the Ci as the poem" to "creating the Ci as the essay", then points out his inheritance and innovation of the creation styles in Northern Song Dynasty , at last gives him suitable appraisal for his status in the history of literature. It is composed of five parts.In the prologue, it briefly introdces the biography and all the writings of Ye Mengde, and summarizes his writings of poem and Ci and the reseachs about him by the scholars in all dynasties.Chapter one conducts a classified research to the themes of Ye's poems and Cis. Ye's poems and Cis can be classified into two main groups: one is concerning of his country, the other is about seclusion. Those works concerning his country were mainly to show his fanatical patriotism, and to show his depression of failing to realize his ambition. While, those works about seclusion were to express his longing for the comfortable retirement. However, the two different themes sometimes mingled together. So, this article makes a special study of those works involving patriotism and seclusion, besides discussing the two groups respectively. Quantitative analysis shows that Ye cann't be one-sided looked as a cynical poet or a cynical and patriotic writer of Ci. Either in his poems or in his Cis, the patriotic works had larger quantity than that about seclusion. Therefore, it is more suitable to look him as a leisurely writer having patriotic ambition.Chapter two elaborates his writing views. Following Su Shi, a famous writer in Song Dynasty, Ye Mengde developped the writing style—creating the Ci as the poem, and used large quantities of preludes and allusions in his Cis, which showed his strong ego consciousness. In his works of Ci, he portrayed two typical characters: patriotic fighter and senile old man, so as to enrich the characters in works of Ci. Moreover, his poetry went after the plain and native beauty.Chapter three analyzes the character of his styles showed in his poems and Cis, as well as the reason for his diversified styles. His poetry were gracefully magnificent, Simply plian, and majestically ambitious and so on, in addition that these characters sometimes were interwined together. So that his writing style took on diversification and complexity. Then the article discusses the cause of diversification and complexity from the following three aspects: the political context, the writer thought, and the development condition of literature.Chapter four discusses his place in history of literature and his impact on later ages. In the transition from "creating the Ci as the poem" to "creating the Ci as the essay", Ye played an active role in inheriting the past and usherring the later. Obviously, his works of Ci has signed the clue of "creating the Ci as the essay". His poetry inherited the poetry style in Northern Song Dynasty, moreover he had much innovation in creation theory.
