Quantifier. "+ Amount +" Structure Of Cognitive Research

One of modern Chinese characteristics is possessing abundant measurewords with flexible usage. In modern Chinese most measure words are usedmatching with nouns .The matching relations between measure words and nounsactually reflect the cognitive understanding of the relevant categories. We hold anopinion that it must be a part of cognitive linguistics .On the base of the previousstudying and cognitive theories this thesis starts from analyzing the phrase of"one +measure word +noun" and focuses on the matching patterns to get thenature, the types and functions of measure words.This thesis includes four main parts.Part One: General introduction. In this part three main topics are concernedwhich are previous studying on this area divided three items. First of those is theprocess of naming and classifying measure words. The second item issub-classifying measure words. The third item is studying on matching relationsbetween measure words and nouns. The second topic is the cognitive theoriesused in the thesis which are imago theory, metaphor theory and metonymytheory. The third topic introduces simply the source of materials in the thesis.Part Two: types and grammatical characteristics of the phrase "one +measure word +noun". Two types of the phrase are separated one of which isnormal pattern and another is misplaced pattern. Then specific grammarpersonalities are described according to sub-classifying on measure words.Part Three: cognitive mode in phrase "one + measure word +noun". Twodifferent cognitive modes are discovered: single core image mode and doublecore images mode. The former mode is specified four different types and thelatter includes two types.Part Four: The fact and reasons why measure words and nouns restricts eachother in phrase "one +measure word +noun" .Two issues are mentioned one ofwhich is semantic influence between two words and the other is cognitiveregulations in their matching relations.All the studying on above topics indicates both normal pattern and displacedpattern of "one +measure word +noun" follow the same cognitive nature.Measure words in the phrase functions in two areas which are as a measuring unitand as an imago .
