Cognition Research For The Measure Word Of Noun In The Modern Chinese

The measure word of noun is one of the two parts, which made up to the system of measure word in Chinese. In the history of Chinese grammar research, the research of measure words was generally from static state (define the name of the words and sort them) to dynamic state (pay attention to the relation between the measure words and other words or the syntactic construction). But till now, we have not put enough effort to the modern Chinese measure words from the view of cognition, especially the cognitive function and characteristic of the nonce measure words of nouns. So in this thesis, we will try on this point.In this thesis, such viewpoint that the measure category is an independent cognitive category, which contains the cognitive information of language, is put forward. After the development for a long time, they embody grammar relevantly. When people choose a measure word of noun for an object, they also recognize some other cognitive characteristics of it. And these characteristics can affect the measure word of noun. So, a measure word of noun not only indicates the quantity of an object, but also many other additional characteristics of it. In the research, some measure words of nouns used for special purpose, which have been fixed in the language, are chosen and analyzed. Then the conclusion which people's cognitive result and cognitive way affect the choice of the measure word of noun is believed. Because of the function of these factors, when the quantity structure used in a sentence, it will restrict the syntactic construction.The import question of the thesis is that when a noun, a verbs or an onomatopoeia used as a measure word of noun temporarily, how about their cognitive way and characteristic? In this research, an import conclusion is discovered: the measure words of noun are people's cognitive results.
