Zhang Yan Yuan Study

At first I tried to verify the point about all the live of Zhang Yan-Yuan and his old gereration, and tried to prove that his grandfather Zhang Hong-Jin and his father Zhang Wen-Gui belonged to an political group that they included the great statesman Li De-yu.In the later period of T'ang Dynasty in 9 century, the country declined very much, the fate of Zhang Yan-Yuan's family was in touch with the fate of the country. So, there were great feeling of lose and cherish memory for past in Zhang Yan-Yuan's heart. He escaped from the reality, and take his heart in writing the book of painting history. In his book "Li Dai Ming Hua Ji", he followed the old tradition of Confucian School, and constracted the new history about painting. In the later part of this paper, I discussed Zhang Yan-Yuan's thought on art andd talked over his achievement of art theory.
