Functional dyspepsia (FD), is a common functional gastrointestinal disorder with high incidence. The therapies for FD are variegated but none is proved to beperfect.The thesis discusses the concepts and counter-measures by traditional Chinese medicine on FD from different aspects, and it can be divided into two portions: academic study and clinical research.1. Academic study:including a general summary of the ancient literature of the treatment of functional dyspepsia related diseases and a general summary of documents on the progress of research in FD by modern Chinese medicine and western medicine.2. Clinical experiments:Objective:Discussing the clinical syndromes of FD from the traditional Chinese medicine perspective, so as to provide grounds for clinical treatment. Methods:the research is probed into rules of FD syndromes from the traditional Chinese medicine perspective, based on clinical records of 60 patients with FD collected by the Digest Department of Dongzhimen Hospital, an affiliate of Beijing Traditional Chinese Medicine University.Results:1) Patient education, gender distribution in the TCM were significantly different (P>0.05); 2) Clinical symptoms of functional dyspepsia with bothersome postprandial fullness,early satiation, epigastric pain, reduction of food intake, eructation, fatigue are the main clinical Chinese medical manifestations, Symptom scores were 115,84,89,83,72,66; Clinical symptoms with bothersome postprandial fullness,early satiation, eructation, epigastric pain, epigastric burning are considered the main clinical Western medical manifestations, Symptom scores were 115,84,83,66,45。3) 47% of FD patients with various degrees of depression,32% of patients with anxiety,27% of patients exist the two kinds of mental state.; 4) Four main symptoms scores of functional dyspepsia impact, attack frequency, severity were reduced in order, The highest seizure are frequency points and affect is the lowest points.5) 70% of patients with functional dyspepsia with stool changes.6) 30% of functional dyspepsia patients prefer to eat spicy food,20% prefer fried food,20% are drug or food allergies;7) 87.2% of patients with functional dyspepsia barium meal gastric emptying test showed that there is no longer barium in the stomach 5 hours after meal.8) Nausea and vomiting get the highest score in damp-heat accumulation type while epigastric fullness and distress, fatigue in stagnation of Qi caused by spleen deficiency type; epigastric pain, food intake, belching, loose stool get the highest score in liver-stomach stagnation of Qi type, and constipation in liver-stomach stagnation of heat type.Conclusion:1. Different FD syndromes in traditional Chinese medicine are related to the patients'education and gender.2. Major FD Chinese medical syndromes are bothersome postprandial fullness, early satiation, epigastric pain, reduction of food intake, eructation, fatigue; FD Clinical symptoms with postprandial fullness, early satiation, eructation, epigastric pain, epigastric burning are considered the main clinical Western medical manifestations.3. Most FD patients with abnormal mental status in which depression is the mostcommon one.4. Functional dyspepsia disease is frequently occurred,but it's influence is limited.5. Most FD patients suffer from stool changes.6. Diet Preference is easily seen among functional dyspepsia patients,mainly are spicy and fried food Preference,1/5 of FD patients are drug or food allergies.7. Most patients with functional dyspepsia does not exist gastric emptying dysfunction.8. Nausea and vomiting most likely occur in damp-heat accumulation type while bothersome postprandial fullness, fatigue in stagnation of Qi caused by spleen deficiency type; epigastric pain, reduction of food intake, belching, loose stool mostly occur in liver-stomach stagnation of Qi type, and constipation in liver-stomach stagnation of heat type.
