Functional dyspepsia(FD)is a clinical syndrome, its clinical manifestations are continuous or repeatedly occurred epigastricdiscomfort, accompanied by abdominal distention after meal, gassiness, belch, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, pain behind sternum, and regurgitation. It is a very commonly seen disease of the digestive system. The incidence of FD is high, but the causes and mechanism of the disease are still not quite clear. The thesis discusses the concepts and counter-measures by traditional Chinese medicine on FD from different aspects, and it can be divided into two portions: academic study and clinical research.1.Academic study:including a general summary of ancient Chinese medicine documents on dyspepsia diseases and a general summary of documents on the progress of research in FD by modern Chinese medicine and western medicine.2.Clinical experiments: Objective:Discussing the clinical syndromes of FD from the traditional Chinese medicine perspective,so as to provide grounds for clinical treatment. Methods:the research is probed into rules of FD syndromes from the traditional Chinese medicine perspective, based on clinical records of 106 patients with FD collected by the Digest Department of Dongzhimen Hospital,an affiliate of Beijing Traditional Chinese Medicine University.Results:(1)The patients' age,sex do not have the statistical meaning of FD(P>0.05);(2)The most common factors triggering onset in patients are improper diet that has the proportion of 34.0%and the second factors are excessive emotions that has the proportion of 29.2%;The habits of diet of FD Pat ients are mostly reach fatty/sweet diet and pungent/hot diet, which have the percentage 25.5%and 19.8%;(3) Among different syndrome types of FD,29.2%are stagnation of Qi caused by spleen deficiency type,28.3%are damp-heat accumulation type,23.6%are liver-stomach stagnation of Qi type,18.9%are liver-stomach stagnation of heat type;(4)For different distributions of FD syndrome pattern, there is no statistical meaning with the patients' age, length of disease and habits of diet(P>0.05);(5)For different distributions of FD syndrome pattern, patients' sex and different causes of the disease has statistical meaning(P<0.05);(6)Distributions of FD syndromes in traditional Chinese medicine between different type of FD syndromes are no statistical meaning(P>0.05). Conclusions:1.The onset of FD is not related to the patients' age and sex.2.Different FD syndromes in traditional Chinese medicine are not related to the patients' age, length of disease and habits of diet.3.Different FD syndromes in traditional Chinese medicine are related to the patients' sex and different causes of the disease.4.Distributions of FD symptoms are not different between types of FD syndromes.
