In recent years,our country developed secondary nursing education vigorously and increased its proportion.Curriculum is the center of school education,to a large extent,the curriculum setting of a school or a major determines students' construction of knowledge and skills,as well as their comprehensive quality,so the curriculum design effected the achievements of national development of nursing. Based on the premise mentioned above,the author explores which kind of curriculum setting could meet both the development of nursing education and the social development.This research focused on what students really want and the problems existed in the process of teaching and learning.By learning from America's achievements on curriculum design of nursing and analyzing the evaluation of some related groups on subjectives,frameworks,effectives and basic abilities,the author brought up some suggestions on curriculum design,as well as providing some evidence for reformation.Mainly adopting the methods of document analysis and questions survey,this paper makes exploration and extension both in theory and in practice by drawing lessons from the achievements of similar researches.The documents used in this research were nursing curriculum systems of both Puyang secondary health school and New York University,and also including the nursing curriculums which were provided in more than 50%of universities in America.The questionnaires were mainly directed to some highly related groups,such asteachers,doctors and patients,the purpose was to find out the effective and the problems existed in the performance of the current curriculum design.Through the research,the author found that the following problems existed in the current nursing curriculum setting:the training objective was unsuitable with the need of service;it could not embody professional features:teaching was disjointed with practice;the internship was not arranged properly;the implementation of the curriculum was programmed;etc.Based on the problems mentioned above and the experience of American nursing education,the author brought some suggestions to the improvement of the nursing curriculum setting,such as rebuilding the curriculum system,paying attention to practice and recessive courses showing the characteristics and the directions of the major,arranging the curriculum setting properly,which included increasing the humanities courses, strengthening professional knowledge and foreign language study,etc.
