The theory of dietary taboos is one of the unique characteristics in Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM).Fa-wu,referring to the food which can promote evil to produce health problems,is one of the TCM important composition,and is forbidden during the sickness.The subject proposed to use Chinese medical literature,beginning from various Chinese medical literatures,from the aspects of theory,method,prescription,medicine and validation and by means of collection and statistical analysis of literature and document,we can sum up the category of food enhancer and their characteristics;the area to be abstained from;and mechanism of action etc.The thesis consists of five parts:PartⅠ:The general information of Fa-Wu.To comprehend the basic elements and research direction of enhancer concept through analysis.PartⅡ:The study of literature about Fa-Wu.To show the record methods and features in ancient Chinese medical literature about dietary taboos,as well as recent research status of Fa-Wu,by reorganizing the ancient and modern literatures which clearly recorded Fa-WuPartⅢ:Research of Fa-Wu.Summing up by food natural attribute,there are 15 categories of enhancer food,in total 74 kinds.Through statistical analysis of the nature and flavour,for aspect of the "five nature",the Fa-Wu has no obvious characteristics as cold and heat;the appearance frequency of related foods is similar between cold and heat,warm and heat,and neutral in nature.For the "seven flavours",sweet flavour and spicy are most frequently seen.Frequent food includes:fish,chicken,mutton,alcohol,goose,pepper,noodle, beef and ginger etc.PartⅣ:Research of the relationship between Fa-Wu and diseases.Many diseases of promoted by Fa-Wu,most of them are external diseases.Generally speaking,external diseases include pyocutaneous disease,skin diseases,wart diseases,Coloproctological diseases, paralysis,atrophy,cancer etc as the category of TCM external diseases,and ENT(ear,nose, throat) such as oral disorder,Ophthalmic Diseases,Diseases of Orthopedic and Traumatological diseases,swelling of organs,and some diseases of gynaecology and paediatrics.The Fa-Wu has character of promoting wind and provoking qi,thus easy to cause disorder of QI-blood which has side effects against disease.PartⅤ:Analysis and discussion.Further relevant analysis and discussion on the characteristics of Fa-Wu from different aspects.The last is the conclusion.Summary of the whole thesis and the possibility for future improvement and extension.Generally speaking,as for dietary taboos during sickness,it is common to spread by word of mouth among the folk about the Fa-Wu taboos.Not only having a firm people foundation,it is also been recorded in voluminousness Chinese medicine literatures by clinical practice and theoretical analysis.Fa-Wu taboo is one of the integrity in our national medical science,and it plays a great role in precaution,therapy and recovery of clinical diseases.
