Tribulus terrestris is used to treat headache, vertigo, pains on chest and rib, breastcarbuncle and so on. Researches on the chemical constituents of Tribulus terrestris beginfrom the 1960s. In recent years, researches on Tribulus terrestris have been developed rapidlyand its extracts showed good effects on cardiovascular diseases, anti-aging and sexualdysfunctions. In order to research its chemical constituents, especially to find the new agents with thebio-activities, the primary chemical study was carried-out on its fruit of PE, CHCl3, EtOAc,n-BuOH soluble fraction of 75% EtOH extract. By means of the silica gel, Sephadex LH-20column, HPLC chromatogries isolation methods, 18 compounds were isolated from theEtOAc, CHCl3 extracts of Tribulus terrestris L. Among them, 15 compounds structures wereidentified asĪ²-sitosterol (1), daucosterol (2), vanillin (3), vanillic acid (4), 2-methyl benzoicacid (5), butanedioic acid (6), ferulic acid (7), glycerol monopalmitate (8), 3-hydroxy-stigrnast-5-en-7-one (9), 4-ketopinoresinol (10), terrestiamide (11), N-trans-coumaroyltyramine (12), N-trans-caffeoyltyramine (13), Tribulusimide C (14), Tribulusin A (15) respectivelyby spectral data (1D, 2D) and their physico-chemical properties. Compounds 11, 12, 13, 14,15 were alkaloids. In addition, compounds 14 and 15 were two new compounds andcompounds 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 were isolated from Tribulus terrestris L. for the first time.
