We investigated chemical constituents of the fruits of Tribulus terrestris L, 14 compounds were isolated from it by using open-column (SiO2,polyamide, gel.), preparative TLC and HPLC methods et al . 8 of 14 compounds were identified as (I) phthalic acid, bis (2-ethylhexyl) ester; (II)cerevisterol; (III)7a-hydroxy sitosterol-3-o-b-D-glucoside; (IV)Hecogenone; (V)25R-spiro stan-4-ene-3,12-dione;(VI)Hecogenin; (VII)Gitogenin;(VIII) b-sitosterol. Compounds I, II, III were obtained from this genus for the first time. The pharmacological test indicated that the extract of the fruits of Tribulus terrestris L. possessed effective tolerance of oxygen lack.In addition , review on chemical constituents and pharmacy research of Tribulus terrestris L. was made.
