Tribulus terrestris L. belongs to the Zygophylaceae Tribulus.Tribulus terrestris L. also known as "ci jili,bai jili,ying jili". In traditional medicine its fruit was most commonly used for medicine. As is known that the fruits, roots, stems and leaves and flowers of the plant can be used as medicine parts. So Jili is famous as "Effective Medicine of Herbs" in China. The stems and leaves of Tribulus terrestris L., also called "Jili-miao", consists of it originated from " Compendium of Materia Medica " and has been widely used in China to treat wind-heat, pruritus, swelling, etc, in addition to diuretic in India. Tribulus terrestris L. tepid, taste spicy and bitter, a small drug. It has the effect of relieving hepatic distension and solution depression, activating blood and dispelling rheumatism, bright eyes, relieve itching, and so on. Tribulus terrestris L. are used for treatmenting headache, dizziness, eye diseases, rubella itching, hepatic distension pain, diabetes and so on. Tribulus terrestris L. has contained numerous compounds such as saponins, flavonoids, alkaioids, amino acids, organic acids and polysaccharides, which the mainly active constituents are steroidal saponins and flavonoids. Modern pharmacological studies have shown that Tribulus terrestris L. extract especially steroidal saponins can improve cardiovascular diseases, lowering blood lipids, lowering blood sugar, enhancing sexual function, anti-aging and, anti-neoplasm pharmaceutical activity.Firstly, the paper summarizes the research situation of chemical constituents, pharmacological activities and content determination and cites a total of 133 references. In experiments, after the crushing of Tribulus terrestris L. herbs we extract active ingredients with percolation extract and ultrasonic extraction. After using petroleum ether, ethyl acetate solvent extraction followed by, small and medium-polar components are extracted. By D101 macroporous resin, washed with water,30% ethanol, 50% ethanol,75% ethanol,95% ethanol and get four macroporous resin elution section. The paper studies the 70% alcohol and water extraction-30% macroporous resin elution section. By mans of Silicone, Sephadex LH-20, preparative HPLC separation method et al,20compounds were isolated from the 70% alcohol and water extraction-30% macroporous resin elution section of Tribulus terrestris stems and leaves. on the basis of spectroscopy analysis, including UV,1HNMR, 13CNMR, DEPT, HMBC, HSQC and chemical methods,14 compound structures were identified as Kaempferol-3-O-β-D-gentiobioside-7-O-D-glucoside (LCN-1), Isorhamnetin-3-O-β-D-genti obioside-7-O-D-glucoside (LCN-2), Terrestrinone A2 (LCN-3), TribulusinA (LCN-5), Corchoionol C (LCN-6), p-hydroxyacetophenone (LCN-9),3,5-Dihydroxy-6,7-megastigm adien-9-one (LCN-11),16-β-glucopyranosyl-pregn-4-17(20)-trans-dien-3-one (LCN-13), Dehydrodiconiferyl alcohol (LCN-14), Carissone (LCN-21), Jatrophin (LCN-24), 3-O-{[β-D-xylopyranosy (1→3)] [β-D-xylopyranosy-(1→2)]-[β-D-galactopyransy (1→4)]} [α-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1→2)]-[β-D-galactopyransyl]-26-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-25(R)-5a-furost-3β,22α-26-triol(LCN-27),25R-spirost-4-en-3,12-dione(LCN-30), β-sitosterol(LCN-31)。 Among them, compound LCN-6、LCN-9、LCN-11、LCN-13、LCN-14、LCN-21、LCN-24 were the first reported in Tribulus terrestris LThis paper established a method for the simultaneous determination of three active components of quercetin-3-O-β-D-gentiobioside, isorhamnetin-3-O-β-D-gentiobioside, Terrestrinone A2, and the three compositions were determined in different growth phases and origin of Tribulus terrestris L.. The medthod is highly simple, accurate with good repeatability and stability, which can provide the basis for evaluating the quality of Tribulus terrestris L.. The results show that the three composition have accumulated the maximum in June. Over time, the active substance began to break down and fewer content. Different medicinal parts, content of the three active ingredients were stems and leaves> fruit> root, and root content exceptionally low,even less than the linear range. The content in different origin are different of three active ingredient of Tribulus terrestris L.. Inner Mongolia produced Tribulus terrestris L. of three active ingredients content is much higher than other regions, followed by Shandong, Hebei, Shanxi. Therefore, we should choose the right time and the right area planted to research of Tribulus terrestris L.
