Compound Of Two Different Doses Of Mifepristone And Misoprostol To Terminate A Clinical Study Of 13 To 20 Weeks Of Gestation

Objective: Our clinical investigation aims to evaluate the clinical effects of compound mifepristone of 2 different doses followed by misprostol for the termination of 13～20-week-gestation. As to the prolonged vaginal bleeding after the abortion, the Syndrome Differentiation of Traditional Chinese Medicine was also done as a complemental way to treat it.Methods: 65 women of 13-20 weeks gestation from the Affiliated Drum Tower Hospital of Nanjing University Medical School were randomized into A and B two groups. 32 women in group A took 1 pill of compound miferpristone once per 24 hours for 2 days then were administered 0.4mg misoprotol vaginally. The administration of misoprotol was repeated every 3 or 4 hours after the first dose according to the extent of the uterine contraction, but the maximum dose is 1800mg per day. 33 women in group B took 1 pill of compound miferpristone once per 12 hours for three times. The administration of misoprotol was the same as that of group A. Routine curettage was performed after the delivery of the fetus and placenta within 0.5 hours.Results: The abortion rate for the 13～20-week-gestation was 90.6%(29/32) in group A and 84.8% (28/33) in group B. The abortion rate for the 13～16-week-gestation was 92%(23/25) in group A and 86.4%(19/22) in group B. The abortion rate for the 17～20-week-gestation was 85.7%(6/7) in group A and 81.8% (9/11) in group B. The abortion rate of 13～16-week-gestation and 17-20-week-gestation in group A was higher than that of group B, respectively. But there was no statistical difference between the two groups (P>0.05). The abortion rate of 13～16-week-gestation was higher than that of 17～20-week-gestation when the dose of compound miferpristone was equal, but there was no statistical difference between the two groups (P>0.05).Conclusion : Compound mifepristone followed by misprostol vaginal administered for termination of 13-20 weeks of gestation is effective. The effects can' t be enhanced by increasing the quantity of compound mifepristone.
