| Objective:This study observed 40 cases of peri-menopause syndrome patients in Taiwan with symptoms of kidney deficiency, liver depression and spleen deficiency, who were cured with Furen Huanshaosan (Women Rejuvenation Powder). Eight commonly-seen clinical symptoms were chosen as the observation indexes and the therapeutic efficacy evaluation was conducted in different times before and after medicine-taking. Statistical treatment and analysis were conducted on self-control group to evaluate the efficacy of the medicine so as to provide theoretical and clinical justifications for curing peri-menopause syndrome patients by this prescription. Selection of casesThis study selected 40 cases of peri-menopause syndrome patients between 2003-2005 with TCM syndrome differentiation of kidney deficiency, liver depression and spleen deficiency by taking hectic fever and sweating, restlessness and irritability, sore and pain in loin and legs, appetite reduction, fatigue and lassitude, melancholia and suspicion as the observation indexes, with a total of 8 clinical symptoms. The Chinese medicine syndrome differentiation and symptomatic evaluation standard follow the Guiding Principle for New Drug Clinical Research for Chinese Medicine formulated by the Ministry of Health. The primary clinical symptoms include: hectic fever and sweating, restlessness and irritability, appetite reduction or bad appetite, and sore and pain in loin and legs. The secondary clinical symptoms include: fatigue and lassitude, melancholia and suspicion, skin dryness (xerosis cutis) and aging or stains, colpoxerosis, dreaminess, insomnia or easy wake-up, paresthesia, frustration and chest distress, dizziness and headache, and amnesia. The requirement for Chinese medicine syndrome differentiation is: under the prerequisite that the primary clinical symptoms must appear and when there are more than 2 secondary clinical symptoms, diagnosis can be conducted.2.
