Along with the change of the spectrum of human diseases and the change of rule of life, the morbidity rate of depression rises each year, and the study on its pathogenesis and treatment is arousing more and more attention of medical workers. Depressive neurosis is a common emotional disorder, whose chief clinical signs are lasting depression of light degree or middle degree. It belongs to the category of "yubing"(liver stagnation syndrome) of traditional Chinese medicine. Although new antidepressants come into being continually, their clinical application is restricted by many factors such as unsatisfied effect, many adverse reactions, poor dependence, high price and so on. Clinically, an effective and safe anti-depression therapy is badly needed. For such a disease resulting from many factors such as the biologic, social and psychological factors, we have found the therapy of traditional Chinese medicine soothing the liver-qi as the center is more striking in character, with a high curative effect.XiaoYao San can disperse liver and regulate qi. Hence, it is necessary to do in-depth research on the "liver stagnation syndrome" concept in traditional Chinese medicine and treatment effect of Xiao Yao San, so as to sum up the theory and find out some general rule, and provide enlightenment for further probing into an effective and standard therapy of traditional Chinese medicine. This research subject falls of all, include the clinical observation and the experimental research. Objective: To observe the state of immunization disorder on the mice with liver stagnation syndrome and the effect of adjusting immunization of Xiao Yao San. To observe the treatment effect of the depressive neurosis with Xiaoyao Keli. Methods: Experimental research: We chose 32 Kunming mice, and divided them randomly into the normal group, the modeling group of liver qi stagnation syndrome, and the treatment group of Xiao Yao San. We used the Qiao Mingqi modeling method to duplicate the model of mouse of liver stagnation syndrome. We observed the change of the mice morphology. One week later, we used the flow cytometer to measure the mice thymusdependent lymphocytes subgroup of the peripheral blood and their weight of the immune organ.Clinical rearch: We chose 60cases who had already been diagnosed as depressive neurosis patients. In the chronological order, we divided them randomly into an treatmental group and a control group. We let the treatmental group orally take Xiaoyao Keli plus Fluovetine; we let the control group only take Fluovetine for positive control. Then we observed the symptoms, the change of the point value of Zung test meter before and after the treatment, the adverse reaction and medicine taking condition. The observing time was 6 weeks.
