Health is human beings' beautiful aspiration of all ages. With fast developing and changing of today's world, the achievements and limitations of modern medicine, the success and abuse of progress in economy, together with other global severe social and environmental issues, make people think all kinds of problems of health seriously. From 1980s', with arising of health education and health promotion, many people are having paid close attention to health promotion by World Health Organization. Ottawa Charter, published on the first international conference on health promotion in 1986, points out that, "Build Healthy Public Policy and Create Supportive Environments" are the main strategies for health promotion. Under WHO's initiation, governments of all countries make public policies on the basis of their own condition and launch different forms of health promotion movements.The U. S. A is a developed country whose health education and health promotion is comparatively well-rounded. The thesis first describes the health promotion policies' contents and effects of the U. S. A. The thesis then mainly analyzes the factors influencing the policy-formulation. Finally, the thesis summarizes the peculiarities of American health promotion policies and tries to provide reference for the research and practice for health education and health promotion of our country.There are three parts in this thesis:Part one explains the background, the method, the aim and the values of this thesis.Part two reviews the history of health promotion policy-formulation of U. S. A. It also describes the contents and effects of health promotion policy.Through factor analysis and history analysis, part three ties to unearth the factors which influence the formulation of the health promotion policies; in addition, it summarizes the peculiarities, the problems and solutions of health promotion policies in U.S.A.
