Objectives: To investigate apolipoprotein E(apoE) polymorphism and it's relationship with the serum lipids of Chinese patients with psoriasis vulgaris(PV) in Hunan province.Method: This is a case-control study, which enrolled 100 cases with psoriasis vulgaris and 100 controls, polymerase chain reaction-restricted fragments length polymorphism was used to determine apoE genotype. The serum lipids were determined in 70 cases with psoriasis vulgars and 70 controls without psoriasis vulgaris .Results: 1.The phenotypic frequency of apoE3/2,apoE2/2 in psoriasis vulgaris was significantly higher than that in health controls (P<0.05).2.apoE ε 2 allele was significantly more prevalent in patients with PV than that in controls, 14.5%vs 5%,(P< 0.05).3.The serum levels of TG, LDL-C and Lp(a)in patients with psoriasis vulgaris were significantly higher than that in controls(P<0.05).4.The serum levels of TG in patients with apoE ε 2 carries were significantly higher than that in patients withapoE ε 3 carries and controls(P<0.05). Conclusion:1. apoE ε 2 allele was significantly more prevalent inpatients with psoriasis vulgaris; apoE genotype ε 2 may bean risk factor for psoriasis vulgaris. 2..The serum lipids of patients with psoriasis vulgaris wasabnormal. 3.Apo E ε 2 allel was important factors that caused theserum levels of TG higher in patients with psoriasisvulgaris.
