Supply Chain Management (SCM) is one of the most important research and application areas for supermarket chains.Analyze the feasibility and benefits of adopting SCM in supermarket chains and show how SCM theories and methods can be used to build an SCM information system (SCM Platform) to solve real problems the industry is facing. Some best practices have been proposed based on several case studies. First, it's imperative to set up a team from top management members of the supermarket and create a strategic project that involves both suppliers and customers. Secondly, need to redesign and optimize the supply chain process to ensure real time sharing and analysis of business data. Finally, emphasize that data need to be shared not only at the ordinary business level but also throughout the entire process. It's also essential to receive feedback on the system from both suppliers and customers.Based on the above principles and analyses of current business practices, design a new set of inventory replenishment procedures and algorithms to gain better control of its purchasing, inventory management, promotion and settlement process. This can also help to find out the optimal mix of goods, best selling products and non-performing products. Suppliers can also receive statistical reports from the SCM platform, which creates mutual benefits for both sides, thereby paving the way for better products and services. To validate these theories, use a prototype of the SCM platform in a project to collect real business data and evaluate the effectiveness of the SCM platform. Feedbacks from the evaluation are then used to identify and resolve issues to further improve the system. This work clearly shows that the SCM platform is a viable solution for supermarket chains and can become an important part of the core competence of supermarket chains, creating a virtuous cycle of evaluation, feedback and improvement, which helps to maximize their profits and competitive advantage. It will be of great help for supermarket chains to improve their competitiveness, lower costs, increase efficiency and effectiveness, providing a quantum leap for their business.
