At present, with the rapid development of the global information and economics, cities not only play a more important role in global and local affairs, but also become the independent modules of the world economic competition. In the face of the double-edged sword caused by global competition, how to enhance the competitiveness of city has become an urgent need to solve for every city in the world.Eight river cities of Jiangsu Province are important components of the Yangtze River Delta .The quality of its development is decisive for Jiangsu Province to build a well-off society, and is related to the sound and rapid development of the province and even the whole country's economy. Eight cities along the Yangtze River in Jiangsu Province are the economic and social development of the highest level, the highest level of urbanization in the region. It is obviously very necessary to research the regional urban competitiveness, but nothing has been done to the region literature specific study. Based on the domestic and foreign scholars representative competitiveness evaluation system and Jiangsu Province comprehensively building a well-off society construction of an integrated system, the article uses a city competitiveness index system that would better reflect the scientific concept of development, collects relevant data, and analyzes the target system selected data through the SPSS software, then reaches the city's competitiveness score and ranking. According to the score and ranking, the article supposes some relevant countermeasures.This paper is divided into five parts as follows:The first part Prolegomenon. This paper introduces the connotation, the definition and the essence of the competitiveness of the city.The fourth part The study of the eight river cities. This is the core content of the papers. Guided by the city competitiveness evaluation, this paper constructs the framework to truly reflect the city's competitiveness evaluation, analyzes the target system selected data through the SPSS software, then reaches the city's competitiveness score and ranking.The fifth part Countermeasures to boost the competitiveness of the city. According to the above conclusions, the article proposes a solution from the outside world, accelerating the development of the third estate, the development of high-tech industries and upgrade talent level, transforming government functions, planning the social development and the improvement of the ecological environment.
