In this paper, drawing on previous studies of the tourism industry, the Cities in Yangtze River Delta Area as an example, in accordance with "Literature Review—Basic Theory Research—Model Evaluation System and Index System—An Empirical Analysis—Analysis of Results—Correlative Countermeasures", the overall framework and the logical sequence are started gradually. First, based on the basic theory and literature review at home and abroad, this paper constructs the model evaluation system which is constituted by the basic competitiveness, the core competitiveness and the supporting power of tourism environment, and an evaluation index system which has 40 indexes is built. And then, using the index data of the cities in Yangtze River Delta area from the year 2010, this paper applies factor analysis and principal analysis in software SPSS to evaluate the basic competitiveness, the core competitiveness, the supporting power of tourism environment and the general competitiveness of 22 cities in Yangtze River Delta area, and then it analyzes the estimation result. Finally, based on the evaluation result, in this article, the cities in Yangtze River Delta area are divided into three levels according to tourism industry competitiveness, which cover 6 core tourist cities, namely. Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Wuxi and Ningbo.8 key tourist cities, that is, Changzhou, Shaoxing, Nantong, Zhenjiang, Jiaxing, Yangzhou, Hefei, Jinhua, and 8 potential tourist cities including Huzhou, Taizhou, Zhoushan, Taizhou, Yancheng, Ma’anshan, Huai’an, Quzhou. And then the paper proposes the measures to improve the each level urban tourism industry competitiveness of Yangtze River Delta area.
