Supplier management is an advanced management pattern and one of the most active and vigorous management ideas, therefore having received attention of managerial staff and spread worldwide more and more. Supplier management is listed among the vital and basic elements of business management. Qualification of suppliers decides the status of one company in the field and qualified suppliers and advanced supplier management pattern are helpful for increasing core competitive power of one company. However, theoretically and practically there still is much gap in supplier management between China and advance countries, which makes China's companies at a disadvantage in global competition. Therefore it is imperative and important to investigate and study the subject of supplier management.This paper, combining the management experience of purchase and production and the learned theory of my own, makes an study into the supplier management of Jinan Diesel Engine Company (referred to as "JDEC" below) and presents a set of feasible solutions for improvement on the base of investigation, diagnosis and demonstration.Chapter 1 gives a brief description of the necessity and background of supplier management and makes a survey of this paper.Chapter 2 studies and sets forth some main manufacture patterns such as JIT, OPT, LP and AM and also some theories and patterns related to supplier management such as supply-chain management, suppliers' relation management and punctual delivery management; analyzes developing situation and tendency of production and supplier management of both domestic and overseas companies.Chapter 3 analyzes JDEC's current condition.
