Entering into the 21st century, human society has entered a new historical period. With the arrival of the new economic era, which is represented by the tide of economic globalization and modern computer information technology, the market environment of Chinese enterprises is undergoing significant changes. Facing the changes, opportunities and challenges, enterprises must make full use of computer information technology and Internet technologies to integrate the internal and external resources of enterprises, to improve the competitiveness of the enterprises comprehensively. Enterprise resource planning as a modern enterprise management system and a method of thinking, as the important part of the enterprise e-commerce strategy, and a system of application software, are being considered by more and more enterprises.As an important component of the Chinese enterprises SME is also expected to make full use of information resources to accelerate their own development. However, the common enterprise resource planning software in market is not able to meet the development needs of SME. This paper started with the formation and development of ERP theory, analyzed the research status of domestic and international ERP, and then based on the client server architecture, it designed and developed sales subsystem of ERP system, which is flexible and simple to operate. This paper combined the structure lifecycle method and the prototype method, and following the principle of economic, timeliness, easy-to-use, reliability, flexibility and relative independence. The paper analyzed and designed the overall system firstly. By analyzing the SME organizational structure, business processes, it defined the requirements of SME, chose the system architecture, and designed the module of system. Based on overall design, this paper continued doing a detailed design of sales subsystem, and implemented the subsystem by Delphi procedure language. The design and development of Sales subsystem aimed at the problems exited in SME and expected to propose solutions for them. This subsystem paid attention to the system features for SME, and stressed the flexibility, extension, assistant decision and relative independence. This article tried to design and develop the sales subsystem of ERP suitable for the development of SME in China, in order to be helpful for the informational development of SME in our country.
