Coilers are crucially important equipments on the production lines of hot strip mills. The quality problems of their operation always affect the ultimate quality(side neatly, coil compacting) of finished coil and the rhythm and efficiency of the whole production lines running. In order to ensure coiler control system has good performance, the key is to improve the coiler speed and tension control system's performance.This subject against a background of a project established the linkage of the modern control system's overall framework and its distribution function and the application of BP intelligent algorithm to the reel tension control system. Including:1) Detailed study of the coiler control system of industrial field, including network system, PLC system, motor drive system; The tension and speed control of main equipments in coiling area; coiler control process(three states:preparation, normal, ending); And some tension control related typical sections(the slow down points control of tail end and the pinch roll assistance for tension reel control).2) Analysis and summarized the specific methods of coiler tension control, including frequency conversion system speed/tension optional control, max torque method in tension control mod, induction motor rotor flux-oriented decoupling model, torque dynamic given for real-time compensation, the calculation of coil diameter procedure by algorithm.3) Coiler's constant tension winding control is very complex. The traditional control methods are difficult to achieve this goal. In this paper, proposed a method of use BP neural network control, and improved its algorithm. Using this improved algorithms to learn the samples of typical variables of the object, and feedback target value of approximation. This method through the feedback and bias control indirectly, achieved the purpose of constant tension of winding control. Through simulation studies, fully proved that BP neural network algorithm used in hot-rolled coiler tension control's feasibility.
