Rolling tension makes effect on rolling condition, product size precision and shape quality, so much as makes the whole rolling process instability, so it is an important parameter in the process of cold rolling produce, and it must be strictly controlled. To ensure the production quality, the parameters of every stand have to be related by invariable tension, so electrical control system must be designed. As for this, based on 1450 cold rolling mill in Zhangjiagang, automatic tension control system is studied in this paper.Firstly, aiming at coiler of five stands cold rolling mill, the tension system is analyzed. The coiling tension model is set up, and Using indirect tension maximal moment method and direct tension method, the object model is respectively established, and the corresponding controllers are designed. A PI adjuster is adopted as the coiling tension adjuster, and the calculating process of corresponding parameters is presented. Then simulating research and analysis are preceded.Secondly, quantitative feedback theory is used in indirect tension control to solve the parameters change and some uncertain disturbances, and the control system framework is presented, then the corresponding robust controller is designed, the simulation compared with PI controller is done.Thirdly, the important effect of tension control in cold rolling mill is summarized;the tension differential equation and the relation between it and velocity are deduced. The three chief constitutes of tension control are introduced, and the switch problem between dynamic/ static controller is discussed.Lastly, aiming at the tingle phenomenon as switching in multi-model control, a multi-model switching control method is presented based on parameterization design. This method solves the tingle phenomenon as switching in multi-model control, and the simulation analysis is preceded for thetension between stands.
