Nowadays,there come out a newest pipe forming technology FFX(Flexible Forming Exact)in pipe mill industry. It can produce Pipes (Round or Square )into diameter size which the customer ordered in one Mill line.This technology improved the usual mill lines' shortage of producing only one fixed diameter.pipes.In entry section of the mill line,we will open the coils and levels the steel strip, meanwhile feeds the steel strip to the forward sections continuously.There is a technical requirement in entry section:The steel coil must sustain proper tension when openning coils. Because forward mill sections are based on the continuous and stable feeding.The tension could neither be lacking nor exceeding.Uncoilling and feeding need fixed speed and tension.This is the control target.We argued specialy with the topic of tension control. Tension control is widely used in modern factory, such as steel rolling, printing, textile, tobacco, and electric wire manufacturing.Tension control is proved to be very important in rising product's quality.In this article, we analyzed the flow of Entry section, figured out how the tension came out, and then built the mathematical model of the system. Then Put forward calculating manner focused on the varing diameter, then illustrated how to design a tension control system based on Siemens S7-300 PLC, Micromaster440,MP277 HMI supervising interface. To meet controlling demand, we used closed-loop PID control to realize the control system. I put forward fuzzy control arithmetic, and tried to carry it out through LAD programming language. At last I simulated the algorithm in Matlab7.0.It revealed good control effect by Fuzzy control, and it could satisfy the system's need of speediness,stabilization and veracity.At last, I drawed a conclusion from experience, talked about the lack and raised the working course.
