In recent years, Mobile Number Portability (MNP) has become a new promising service and attracts much attention from a variety of telecommunication carriers over the world. The primary research area of this thesis is the functional implement and simulation research of Mobile Number Portability by Signaling Relay Function (MNP/SRF) in the Core Network.Firstly, the thesis overviewed the current domestic and international status of the MNP service, and discussed several presently mature technologies. Secondly,we selected the MNP/SRF as the solution for the realization of MNP. Thirdly, based on the architecture of the core network, we discussed the functions that each node should be taken to implement the MNP and especially gave out a certain requirement in Mobile Switching Center (MSC). At last we implemented the MNP in MSC on the signaling level. In particularly, the thesis focused on the coding development of the signaling blocks in the Mobile Switch Center. We investigated the realization of the corresponding protocol transformation between the inside and outside of the MSC, and the transport, exchanging and calling of the parameters for the MNP. Then we realized the calling and control of MNP. Finally, by using the MSC simulation system with the TTCNv3 protocol simulator, we simulated the external protocol (ISUP and BICC) to finish the simulation research. According to the testing result, MNP has been fully implemented on the signaling level in the MSC.
