With the development of telecom network and the customer s requirement of telecom services, service of number portability is also interested and carried out by many countries. Number portability is that due to some reason, the customers change the mobile Telecom operators, and wish to the mobile number not changed. In the competitive environment, number portability promoted the competition between operators. By 2010,about 50 countries and regions of different degree to implement the number Portability (including fixed number of mobile number and carry).The paper introduces the development history,the principle of number portability,and the physical structure to numbeportability. Combining with the project implementation of tanjin Unicom,the paper introduced the application of number portability in tianjin, describes the position of number portability in the core network and the networking status. On this basis,introduce the requirements of NPHLR,NPMSC of number portability.Author praticipated the number portability construction of Tianjin Unicom, and cooperated with Ministry of industry and information to test in tianjin,analyzed the test condition and made a summary.The paper provide the implement condition with adding and reforming the equipments,summaried and analyzed the specific scenes in test,show the number protability of theory combined with the reality.In addition,this paper have a deep analysis with the service characteristics of number protability,the number protability flow of different scenarios,and looks forward to the development trend of the number portability.Number portability in China is on the start stage; Hope this research will have a useful help for provied service and users to choose network operators freely.
