Research On Number Portability Of Chinamobile

As the development of telecom industry and increase of the telephone penetration rate, users of telecommunications services have become increasingly demanding. In recent years, more and more attention is paying to the implementation of number portability in the worldwide, Successively, more than 40 countries and regions have implemented number portability to varying degrees, including 17 countries of the EU, the United States and Australia (fixed and mobile), Japan (fixed, mobile 2006), Singapore (Mobile), Hong Kong (fixed, mobile), Macao, Taiwan,and etc. The introduction of number portability is basically for two purposes:First, to ensure that users have options in the selecting of operating companies and business; the second is to lower the threshold of market competition to encourage the operating companies improve service quality. Based on the analysis of the situation of foreign government regulation, more and more experts believe that Mobile Number Portability is the future trend of development.In this paper, we first studied the general requirements for number portability proposed by the Ministry of Industry, got a clear demand for all aspects of the project; and then we did in-depth research on China Mobile's network status. Further more we predicted the number of subscribers who would be included in this field tests and the impact for the operations. Finally, based on the actual network of China Mobile, we proposed the specific construction plan of the number portability field trials which proved the feasibility of Number portability using the technical solution and will be a good guide for the future large-scale promotion of Number portability.
