The media sites are an integration of traditional media and new media, and the core-competitiveness and developmental pattern of the media sites have always been one focus of the media convergence development. It is an extensive and fierce argument whether the core-competitiveness of media sites are the contents, the channels or the audiences. This paper carries out an interpretation to the core-competitiveness of the media sites by a new perspective of information fusion.In all kinds of media sites, the metropolitan area media sites appeared with the rapidly growing trend of the metropolitan area in our country. Metropolitan area is a regional pattern which had a historical significance to the process of socio-economic development. The most important thing to form and develop the metropolitan area is the integrative development of this area. In the process of the integrative development of metropolitan area media industry, it is certain that the enterprises will develop in clusters, so the metropolitan area media sites will of course become one member of the media industries cluster.Then, what is the role of media sites in the continuously media convergence and media industry chain? How to make full use of the all values of traditional media? Where is the core competitiveness of media sites? What is the role of metropolitan area media sites in the media industries cluster? How to make use of the advantages of the cluster to form its own core competitiveness?The information fusion provides a special perspective to solve these problems. Thus, this paper based on the information fusion and discussed the following four basic questions: (1) what is information fusion? (2) Why the information fusion will form the core competitiveness of media sites? (3) The present situation of information fusion of Wuhan metropolitan area media sites. (4) Put forward the development strategy of Wuhan metropolitan area media sites based on the information fusion.
