In recent years, disaster is closely related with humans,news of the disaster attention has become the urgent need of people's life. The news reports about disaster is an eternal theme press.The first chapter explains some related concepts which are used in this paper, Summarizes the origin of comparative journalism, the current situation and basic research methods, defining disastrous reports,concept of news reports,news of the expression means,and make a brief description of the research method and the theory application. The second chapter starts from the specific cases,with specific numbers, charts to show the difference of the report between China's People's Daily about Wenchuan earthquake and The New York Times about Hurricane Katrina. The third chapter analyzes and summarizes the characteristics of disasterous reports in China and the American. The forth chapter explains the reason that the difference of disasterous reports between China and the American,it includes cultural tradition, communication theory,and different world view, ideology may also cause this difference. The fifth chapter is some thoughts about what should the China media do to improve disasterous reports and how to learn from the American media.There are still some disadvantages in China's disasterous reports,such as concerns less details of the facts , pay less attention on the disaster themselves .At the same time, American media have the blind pursuit of the objective, while the blind highlighted conflicts, ignoring issues such as social harmony.By the contrast,leading us to make a comprehensive ,multifaceted and deep historical investigati,We can correctly understand The objective law of Journalism and Communication.
