In recent years, more and more new detection technologies have been discovered, which in broad sense is classified as a sensing technology. It is an intermedia to transform tested parameter into electrical signals through electromagnetic or sound waves and a series of conversion with its value displayed. It has the same effects as the traditional sensors. However, unlike the traditional sensor, it is constituted by a number of devices rather than a single device. The design of the measurement speed plays a vital role in the field of speed measurement, which is more convenient and more accurate. There are two ways to measure speed, analog and digital. The previous one uses tachometer generator as a detection of components by receiving analog signals. On the other hand, the latter one uses digital optical encoder or Hall sensor for the detection of other components by receiving impulse signals. Since the emergence of high performance and low-cost MCU, the speed measurement commonly used MCU as the core digital measurement method.Up to now there is a variety of techniques to measure speed, such as: Laser Doppler Anemometry (LDA) techniques, ultrasonic techniques (radar), and electromagnetic converting technologies. In the field of toy test, the speed of an electric carriage is an important test item, which uses the concept of photovoltaic conversion in most laboratories. It requires the stroller to run in a straight line to pass lights fixed in defined distance and generates impulse signals; while the time is measured between the first and the last beam of light initiated, and velocity is calculated. The most disadvantage of this approach is lack of practical and accuracy, which requires several trials to obtain the maximum value. Also, it has difficulty to ensure the track to remain straight.In this paper, another measurement is applied for velocity measurements, in order to meet high standard of requirement. It uses MCU as a core unit, combined with analog track ,sensors and LCD. It shows a several positive characters in terms of a simple circuit, high performance of software, reliable control system, and cost-effective. In this experiment, velocity can be obtained when the amounts of the laps is captured by the signal in a specified time; while microcontroller deals with the impulse signals acquired to calculate the carriage speed as well as the accelerate speed.
