This paper designs and implements FPGA-based PXI Bus 3U board, PXI-Adapted Chassis, and the hardware which constitutes network protocol with the diagnostic test system. Board adopts advanced technology of the FPGA, completes the communication with a variety of interfaces such as RS232,V.35,V.21,X.21,V.24. Making full use of PXI bus's open, and high data transfer rate characteristics, it researchs the technology of card exploitation which looks on PXI bus, provides variegated interface cards and configuration program at the purpose of achieving the diagnosis of network protocols.Also the paper introduces the history of the development of PXI Bus, analyses the advantage of PXI bus for looking on test, compares the use of special interface chip and the use of FPGA development board as the core of two programs, and finally stereotypes FPGA for Altera's EP2C35. It introduces the I/O ports standard device supports, lists the port agreement device supports.In accordance with the needs of board, it distributes pins of the device, designs various peripheral interface circuits of board, expands of the system SDRAM, completes the schematic design of hardware circuit, gives the parameters of six circuit boards, provided the basis for the production of Printed Circuit Board. In accordance with the principles of hardware circuits, it constructs the system in SOPC Builder, configures IP cores of various controller, illustrates the contents of the file which is generated by the system automatically, describes ways to download configuration program and the location of download.Taking four-way RS232 interface as an example, it uses Verilog HDL language to program RS232 peripheral interface module, packs custom RS232 peripheral interface module in SOPC Builder, then adds to the configuration program. It uses HAL generated by the SOPC Builder, adopts C language to write applications in Nios II 8.0.At last, it tests the completed PCB. Card tests adopt the method of grading and step by step refinement: hardware test and software test. Test data show that circuits on board are all in the right features, can properly work and provide hardware basis for the software design.
