With the advent of the digital age, the applications of digital technology is more and more extensive. As an essential precondition to achieve Digitalized, Data Acquisition plays a decisive role in the digital systems and its application has extended to all areas of digital systems. Data transmission bus has become increasingly demanding with the emergence of high-speed Data Acquisition system. PCI bus with its speed, high reliability, low cost, good compatibility, etc., has become a priority selection in related projects development.This paper proposed a design of PCI bus Data Acquisition card based on hardware description languages, and reserch of the working principle of data acquisition card. Hardware description languages were used to complete each module design in a single FPGA, such as the PCI bus master mode interface logic, FIFO buffer memory and A/D's control logic functions, and carried a synthesis and simulation was carried out in Quartusâ…ˇ. We completed the system hardware design, including device selection, hardware schematics and PCB mapping, and product PCB card, after determining the design of hardware.According to the requirements of PCI bus Data Acquisition card for software, we reserch the WDM Device Driver principles and development methods under Windows environment. PCI Device Driver which is developed by WinDriver realizes interrupt and DMA transfer functions of Data Acquisition card. The console application program has been developed, and the system which has been tested is running stably.The Data Acquisition card has not only change in structure, but also its function is enriched,because we used hardware description language and FPGA technology. Using the technology, the original function which was achieved by multiple chips not only can be customized in a single FPGA, but also we can realize the new function simply by changing the design process. In the way, we greatly improve the system integration and flexibility and make the system have great headroom.
