SAW-RFID (Radio Frequency Identification based on Surface Acoustic Wave) is a new type of passive RFID. SAW device is the core of SAW-RFID, which can overcome the problem that the RFID device with traditional IC (IC, Integrate Circuit) chips can not work with metal objects, liquids, high temperatures, strong electromagnetic. SAW-RFID can identify high-speed movement of objects with a long rang.In this paper, the main focus on "the new surface acoustic wave radio frequency identification and wireless transmission system researc" projects. We design a passive SAW-RFID system with the principle of delay line SAW.The main contents are listed as follows:1. Introduce the propagation characteristics of SAW in isotropic medium and anisotropic medium, and analyse the structure and working principle of interdigital transducer which is the key components of SAW.2. Analysis of the selection of SAW piezoelectric material, and simulate the different surface acoustic wave device with different substrate materials.3. A kind of SAW tag is developed. The center frequency of the tag is selected as 433MHz. The design of reflective SAW tag is discussed. The basic structure of such a tag concerning the arrangement and width of the reflectors has been explained.4. The minimization of the antenna of the SAW-RFID is the key work to reduce the dimension of the SAW tag In this paper, through meandering the dipole of the antenna, we have designed a miniature dipole antenna work in the frequency of 433MHz. After modeling and emulator the antenna of ADS software, we validated that this new kind of miniature antenna May absolutely fit the use of SAW-RFID.
