With-the development of enterprise informatization as well as computer science and technology, the number of network application systems is on the rise, the resources involved are increasing, and the complexity of management and monitoring is rising. Under such circumstances, information and resources sharing, enterprises'internal resources unified management and maintenance as well as effectively and securely making use of resources would be very difficult to achieve. The resources'correctness, effectiveness, stability, security and reliability have direct relation to enterprises' business operation and economic benefits. How to find a feasible solution to improve the efficiency of system resources management, achieve unified management of resources as well as centrally control and use network resources have a promising future and a great significance. To address this issue, this paper, based on Windows Server 2003 Active Directory environment, conducts research on unified management of computer hardware, centrally labels and stores resources information such as hardware, etc. through LDAP interface, uses Group Policy to assign permissions to users and computers which access hardware resources, and makes use of WMI services to achieve intermittent monitoring of hardware in the domain. The resource management model which is used to describe the active directory structure has been extended to build the needed classes and attributes to meet the storage of information on computer hardware resources. Besides, this paper uses Group Policy to achieve unified management of member's computer hardware resources and user permissions to improve security and efficiency. Moreover, this paper uses WMI services to retrieve hardware information of domain member computers to achieve unified management information and intermittent monitoring. Furthermore, the paper takes domain controller as the management console, and the member computers are controlled by the console. The console mainly uses Group Policy to conduct specific management of member computers and users. WMI services are used in this paper to retrieve managed computer's hardware information so that the administrator can know the use of computer hardware in the domain at any time and can achieve unified management of computer hardware resources. The managed computer responses to the instructions from the console, and sends back execution results to the console to let the console know its running states in time. The console can take appropriate actions according to corresponding policies. This paper proposes a solution which combines Active Directory, LDAP and WMI services to manage hardware resources in the domain to achieve unified management of hardware resources, resulting in improved security and efficiency of hardware resources usage. The solution proposed in the paper has good market prospects for computer hardware resources management in the network.
