Research On City 3d Visualization System Based On Osg

With the development of the society, virtual reality technology recently has become an important technique which influences people's life and development, it is widely applied in military, medicine, education, building, entertainment and so on. City 3D visualization system is an important aspect of virtual reality technology's applications, it not only realizes the digital and virtualization of urban three-dimensional landscape and environment, but also provides a forward-looking basis for urban planning and development.This paper mainly includes four parts: first, this paper analyzes the virtual reality technology, expounding its relevant theory and pointing out the relation between 3D visualization and the virtual reality technology. The second part makes analysis of the requirements about the design of city 3D visualization system, putting forward design goal and technical solutions. Through comparing the advantages and disadvantages of the existing modeling softwares, the third part chooses 3ds Max as the modeling tool to model the entities involved by this system. Based on good models the fourth part constructs the scene and uses OSG which is a 3D rendering development tool to complete the city 3D visualization system, realizing navigation, particle effects, roaming and so on. Finally, there is a summary of this paper, summarizing the contents of the research and pointing out the shortcomings.There are the innovations of this paper:(1) Analyzing the practical requirements and the design of the system according to a specific city;(2) Using 3ds Max to design and model the buildings, roads, flowers and trees which belong to the city and reflecting some climatic scenes by different weather;(3) Realizing city 3D visualization by the open source OSG development tool, the system has achieved concise picture, easy operation, rich content and immersive effect.It is proved that the research of this system not only provides a better method and tool for urban managers and planners, but also has a good prospect of development and application.
