Visualization of three-dimensional geological model can represent the information of three-dimensional underground geological body timely and quickly. It can provide the fast and effective tool for scientists to study the underground geological structures and make comprehensive analysis. It has broad application prospects in oil exploration, mathematical geology, hydrogeology and engineering geology and such kind of fields. It is also the important research topic in the field of computer graphics. The relevant methods of research and software development is of both theoretical and practical value.In the three-dimensional visualization of geological body research, the key point is to build a model of how to mapping the geometric data by numeric data. It has now developed a variety of modeling methods, to sum up, they can be classified into surface-based model, body-based model and hybrid model. Through analysis and comparison of the advanced three-dimensional modeling software at home and abroad and analysis and summary of the basic theories of visualization technology and spatial modeling techniques, the research uses hybrid model based on Spatial modeling to achieve visualization of three-dimensional geological model, and have studied the general process of structural modeling approach of three-dimensional visualization of geological modeling, Based on object-oriented software design concepts, we designed a three-dimensional geological modeling and visualization systems, and discussed it's key implementation technologies. The original ideas of the research are as follows:(1) The paper established a conceptual model of geological body which was suitable for three-dimensional geo-object modeling and visualization, divided The model into five categories (point, line, triangle, surface, solid) and gave the corresponding computer graphics representations of the five categories.(2) Aiming at the complexity of geological surface, an integrated surface modeling solution was put forward, which consists of grid modeling based on Kriging interpolation methods, three-dimensional constrained triangulation, and the technique of forming a closed surface from several open surfaces.(3) This paper discussed the Three-dimensional geological visualization technology on the principle of the system, combined with the characteristics of fault modeling, a CAD modeling method was introduced to achieve interactive editing model.(4) A three-dimensional geological modeling and visualization system was designed, which consists of the visualization application framework, surface modeling program of geological body and solid modeling program of geological body. We completed the study of the key algorithms and carried out the software algorithms in practice.(5) After the realization of cross-platform development, the system can run in all kinds of computer operating system platforms.This system used OpenGL as the underlying graphics support, and cross-platform development tools QT to design the graphical interface, divided the modeling process into the construction of geological model data structure and show of geological model, with high efficiency and good portability, and offered correlative experience for the development of three-dimensional geological modeling of the same type.
